Sterling Silver Brooch With Real Blue Morpho Aega Butterfly Wing
The profile of a blue Morpho Aega butterfly is shown in this sterling silver brooch. Cubic zircon gemstones add sparkle.
The blue Morpho Aega, or Brazilian Morpho butterfly, is probably one of the most popular butterflies used for jewelry and even as inlay for woodworking. The term Blue Morpho actually refers to several butterfly species. The territorial habits of the forest-dwelling Blue Morpho were exploited by the native peoples along the Rio Negro in Brazil who lured them into clearings with bright blue decoys. The collected butterfly wings were used as decorations for ceremonial masks.
This lovely sterling silver brooch is also available using the Graphium Sarpedon butterfly wing (also known as the Blue Triangle or Common Bluebottle).
